Nouha Belaid

Nouha Belaid is a Ph.D. in media and communication. She started her career in 2008 before joining academia in 2013. Today, she teaches Science Journalism at the university and offers online courses to professional journalists.

Her interest in science journalism started with the emergence of COVID-19 in 2020. So she started creating online content about the virus, reclaiming good health for all, and contesting climate change in the Arab World and Africa. She launched in December 2022 the community "Science Journalists in MENA", which gathers scientists, communicators, and journalists in the Middle East and North Africa.   She is also the co-founder of the Arab Journalism Observatory (2016) and the founder and editor-in-chief of the first professional online citizen media in Africa and the Arab World, “Madha Yahduth” (What is happening?).

As a researcher, she has made a dozen scientific contributions in journalism and communication and has been a keynote speaker at international scientific events several times. In 2021, she joined the research group “Global Risk Journalism Hub” affiliated with Melbourne University. She was also working as an expert in Science Journalism with DW Academy and international institutions.
